Wesley University Ondo, Ondo City has officially welcomed to the higher learning, it's newly admitted students for the 2023/2024 academic session, warning them to steer clear of all forms of social vices as the faith based school have high level of discipline.
The students, spread across colleges studying programmes in natural and applied science, social and management science, environmental design and management, arts, agriculture, food science and technology, health, education and law, among others for certain duration of time, about 580 in all, both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Speaking at the matriculation ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of the 17 - year -old university, Rt. Rev. Prof. Samuel Sunday Obeka, said the students should count themselves lucky to be admitted into the faith based higher learning as they are many out looking for such opportunity.
While he emphasised that the university had put in place both human and material resources to help them succeed in their studies and other lawful engagements, he warned them not to indulge in any untoward behaviours in and outside the school.
He noted that the university is achieving greater academic heights, evidenced by hosting numerous professional bodies and teams, including the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, among others' visits.
He further noted that they are making progress in all its endeavours, with plans to expand its programmes to include such as Medicine and Surgery, Human Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacy, Health Information Science, and more postgraduate programmes.
In pledging an oath of obedience to the University and its management, the Vice Chancellor admonished the matriculants to uphold the values of godliness, good character, holiness, and discipline in order to become world pacesetters.
Abah Ene, a matriculant, says, "I feel so good being in Wesley University and grateful to God for being admitted into the University. I've always heard about this University, which is why I decided to put it as my first choice in JAMB, and to God be the glory, I got admission."
Another matriculant , Aladeijebi Itunuola, says "I chose Wesley University because it has always been a good school. I feel so good; I now feel like a true student of the university."
The Vice Chancellor reassured parents and guardians that the security of their wards and properties is guaranteed, as he emphasized that there will be no delay in the university's academic calendar.
